5 Ways to Create Urgency in Sales Copy
One of the best and quickest ways to get more sales, sign up your dream clients and make conversions is to create a sense of urgency in your sales copy.
Fact is, the longer someone takes mulling over your proposal, the more likely they are to talk themselves out of it. But, if you can create a sense of urgency - you'll get more and more people taking action quickly and getting on board with your biz, services and products.
Yay!
So, how the heck do you do that?
1. First thing's first, you've gotta offer something that people actually want.
Hate to break it to you, but you're not gonna be selling anything if people don't actually want it. You can create all the urgency in the world, have unbelievable discounts and run hundreds of limited-time offers - but they're not gonna get you anywhere if people aren't actually interested in what you're offering.
This is why it's important to:
a) know who your dream clients are.
b) know what their pain points, motivations and interests are.
c) sell into that!
Urgency will only amplify someones want for your stuff. It's not gonna create it.
2. FOMO
Fear of missing out.
You've probably experienced FOMO - you know, like that one time you were sick from work, and Carol brought in the best ever homemade triple chocolate fudge cake?
(May or may not be based on a true story of heartbreak *sigh*)
FOMO works wonders in getting people to act.
Scarcity is one of the most powerful ways to create urgency. Studies have actually shown that the scarcer something is, the more people want it.
So, if you can highlight how rare one of your products is, or that you only take on a small number of clients a month, or that something is selling out fast - you can drive people to push that little 'buy now' button before anyone else does.
3. Use time-related words
A really strong call to action and clear, concise sales copy can make all the difference when it comes to converting dream clients.
Sprinkling in some time-related words, however, are especially powerful when it comes to that extra nudge, by creating a strong sense of urgency.
Words like:
Now
Hurry
Fast
Approaching
Seconds
Last Chance
Only
Before it's gone
Today
Limited Time
Don't Miss Out
Clearance
One Time Only
4. Offer a bonus incentive
On top of your main offer, why not chuck in a little something extra to get people acting quickly.
Things like a free resource when they sign up to your coaching program. Free shipping for a limited time only. A small gift when they purchase your products.
This works really well in combination with the FOMO technique, or when what you're offering is only available for a limited time.
5. Pull away the offer
Another effective way to create urgency is to take the offer away. This will really get people clicking that 'add to cart' button, or signing up to work with you!
Things like "this is the last time I will be doing this course" or "we won't be getting this item back in stock".
When you can create a sense of urgency, and do it well, you're almost guaranteed to see some results.
Making people think that they're about to miss out on something awesome, or lose a great opportunity is a powerful way to convert those dream clients into paying customers.
But do be a little careful - as with anything, use this tip in moderation. If you're constantly putting the pressure on your audience and creating unnecessary anxiety, you could end up driving people away (or with stressed-out customers!)
So! Everything in moderation - maybe save this one for those limited-time offers or special deals.
